Welcome to my Drum and Bugle corps page! As if you didn't already know I am a huge drum corps fan! I marched 2000 and 2001 with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps from Canton, Ohio. Hope you enjoy my pictures and some of my stories about my life in corps! If you have any pictures or stories to add please send me and email and sign my guestbook! I would also love to hear your input about my site! Have fun in the world of drum corps!!!
This is my corps. There are many like it, but none that are the same. My competitors are my family and friends; my family and friends are my competition. I work harder. I sleep less. I practice more. I don't need compliment or praise; my reward is collective superiority. I push harder. I complain less. I help more. The more I criticize someone the more it becomes their fault and my problem. I assume responsibility and accountability and ask others to do the same. I do myself what I could never ask of others; the unpleasant, the impossible, the ludicrous, the unbelievable. I don't need a number to tell me how I'm doing. I don't need a metal to tell me I'm good enough. I don't need a ring to tell me I'm the best. I DAMN sure don't need a consolation prize to say I'm pretty good. I want the bitter with the sweet, the pain with the pleasure, and the shame with the glory. It is my continual desire to give more than it takes to achieve perfection, whatever the cost, physical or mental. I am Drum Corps
I am a Bluecoat
(The above was written on the back of the 2001 Bluecoats member t-shirt.) For those of you who don't know what drum corps is all about here is a quick overview of what we do. The Bluecoats are world renowned for their educational excellence and commitment to entertaining audiences throughout the U.S. and Canada during its 12,000-mile summer tour. The corps has been one of the elite world championship finalists for the past eleven years longer than all but six organizations in the world! A member of the Bluecoats will spend the summer gaining not only musical and movement expertise, but self-reliance, discipline, leadership skills and a strong sense of self-worth and work ethic. These are life skills, which cannot be gained through ordinary summer jobs nor weeklong musical camps. Character traits instilled through the Bluecoats are the skills that separate the good kids from the negative youth and education stories you read about in the news headlines. A typical summer in drum corps lasts approximately 45 days. During the summer months a member of the Bluecoats will rehearse around 8 to 12 hours a day and perform about 5 times a week. The hours are long and the rehearsals are demanding, but the payoff results in the standing ovations received from the more than one million fans who will watch the Bluecoats perform during the summer and on nationally televised PBS broadcast of the activitys championships. Here are a couple pictures of me at the 2001 DCI World Championship Finals held in Buffalo, NY.
